SIR JOHN COLOMB (Great Yarmouth)

To ask the Secretary of State for War, whether he can state the total numerical strength of the City Imperial Volunteers who went to South Africa; and how many of the units comprising that force actually belonged to other Volunteer corps at the date of volunteering for service with the City Imperial Volunteers.

(Answered by Mr. Secretary Arnold-Forster.) The total numerical strength was 1,667, and all the members belonged to other Volunteers corps, or the Honourable Artillery Company at the time of enlistment.
