§ MR. SOARES (Devonshire, Barnstaple)To ask Mr. Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will grant a Return showing the rise and fall of agricultural rents in the county of Devon during the last ten years.
(Answered by Mr. Austen Chamberlain.) The values of lands and houses are revised only once in every five years. Revisions were made in 1893, 1898, and 1903, but the detailed figures of the revision of 1903 will not be available for some time, as appeals are still under consideration. However, if the hon. Member wishes it, and will communicate with me, I will give the aggregate valuation of all lands in the county of Devon as made in 1893 and 1898.
