To ask the Under-Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he has any official information showing that Hilmi Pasha has issued a circular to the authorities in the three vilayets, informing them that the foreign officers in the gendarmerie must confine themselves strictly to the technical instruction of the corps, and must not receive complaints from the population or otherwise interfere in the domain of the civil authorities.

(Answered by Earl Percy.)No complaint has been received on the subject from the British Staff Officer, but inquiry is being made by His Majesty's Government.
