HC Deb 14 June 1904 vol 136 c19
MR. NORMAN

I beg to ask the Under-Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether the British lease of Wei-hai-wei would determine immediately upon the occupation of Port Arthur by any other Power than Russia.

EARL PERCY

By the Convention of 1st July, 1898, China agreed to lease to Great Britain Wei-hai-wei and its adjacent waters "for so long a period as Port Arthur shall remain in the occupation of Russia."
