MR. GIBSON BOWLES

I beg to ask the Under-Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs does the duty now levied in Persia on tea act virtually as a prohibition on the importation of tea from India into Persia; has His Majesty's Minister at Teheran been instructed to make any representations against he duty; and, if so, what has been the the result.

THE UNDER-SECRETARY OF STATE FOR FOREIGN AFFAIRS (Earl PERCY,) Kensington, S.

No, Sir. It appears that the importation of Indian tea into Persia has shown no diminution since the imposition of the new duty.
