HC Deb 02 June 1904 vol 135 cc623-4
SIR JAMES WOODHOUSE (Huddersfield)

I beg to ask the Postmaster-General when the Report of Sir Edward Bradford's Committee will be issued to Members of the House.

THE POSTMASTER-GENERAL (Lord STANLEY, Lancashire, Westhoughton)

I am not able at present to fix a date for laying the Report of Sir Edward Bradford's Committee on the Table.

SIR JAMES WOODHOUSE

Cannot the noble Lord name an approximate date?

LORD STANLEY

No, Sir, I cannot say even approximately, and I hope the hon. Member will be satisfied with the assurance I have already given that there shall be a discussion in this House on the Report, which will be laid at least a fortnight before the debate takes place.

MR. BAYLEY (Derbyshire, Chesterfield)

Is there any reason why the Report cannot be laid at once?

LORD STANLEY

I do not think all the evidence is printed, and I do not propose to lay it until I am in a position to make a statement, as I hope to be able, with respect to the course we intend to pursue in regard to it.
