Member for North Huntindonshire, as representing the President of the Board of Agriculture, whether he is aware that merchant seamen who contract for pare butter in lieu of 38 beef are frequently supplied with margarine; and, if so, what action does he propose to take in the matter.
§ MR. AILWYN FELLOWESI am afraid that the powers of the Board under the Sale of Food and Drugs Act, 1899, do not extend to practices such as that referred to by the hon. Member. The Board, however, are instituting inquiry into the matter to ascertain whether any steps can be advantageously taken, and in the meantime perhaps the hon. Member would place me in possession of any specific information which he may have received on the subject.
