To ask Mr. Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will furnish an estimate of the amount of Customs duty which will, according to the proposed differential duties on tobacco, be payable per pound on imported strips and on strips produced from imported leaf by stripping in this country, respectively, instancing the case of Bright Virginia, and giving the grounds of his estimate.

(Answered by Mr. Austen Chamberlain.) According to the proposed differential duties on tobacco it is estimated that the Customs duty paid on a pound of imported strips of Bright Virginia tobacco
