HC Deb 29 February 1904 vol 130 cc1244-5
MR. CHARLES DEVLIN

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland whether he can state if any sales or transfers of estates have under the provisions of the Land Act of last session been effected in the agricultural districts situate within the limits of the Parliamentary Borough of Galway; whether the attention of the Estates Commissioners has been directed to the uneconomic holdings at Castlegar and other agricultural districts within the limits of the borough; and whether, in view of the fact that tracts of available land now used as grazing farms are in the vicinity of these holdings he will, in order to decrease emigration from this district, direct the attention of the Estates Commissioners and the Congested Districts Board to this part of the nest of Ireland.

MR. WYNDHAM

No overtures have been made to the Estates Commissioners for the purchase of lands within the area mentioned in the Question. Any representations made to the Commissioners or to the Congested Districts Board in this respect will be duly considered.
