I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland if he will state on what data Major Nicholas Gosselin was appointed a resident magistrate for Ireland; the various places in which he has been stationed since the date of his appointment; where he is stationed at the present time; whether he has discharged any duties except those of resident magistrate since the date of his appointment; and, if so, what is the nature of those duties.

Major Gosselin was appointed resident magistrate on the 2nd August, 1882. He was stationed for a short time at Killeshandra, County Cavan, and at Sligo. He was subsequently seconded for employment on special duty and ceased to act under the Irish Executive. He retired on pension on the 12th instant.
