HC Deb 29 February 1904 vol 130 c1251
MR. CHARLES DEVLIN

I beg to ask Mr. Attorney - General for Ireland whether he is aware that an area within the town limits of Galway is covered with ruins and waste buildings which are exempt from the payment of rates, and which the owners will not put in repair; and, if so, whether, in view of the representations of the urban council of Galway in this matter, it is his intention to introduce legislation this session which will enable the council to deal effectively with the matter and to levy rates on this area.

THE ATTORNEY-GENERAL FOR IRELAND (Mr. ATKINSON,) Londonderry, N.

There is no intention to introduce legislation dealing specially with this particular case. If the hon. Member wishes to ascertain what are the intentions of Government with regard to any measure dealing with local taxation generally he should address his Question to the Prime Minister.
