HC Deb 24 February 1904 vol 130 cc847-8
MR. CHARLES ALLEN (Gloucestershire, Stroud)

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for the Colonies if he will say on what fund the salary of the Protector of Chinese will be charged.

* MR. LYTTELTON

The salary of the Protector of Chinese, who in the Ordinance is designated Superintendent of Labourers, will be paid from Transvaal Funds.

MR. CHARLES ALLEN

What opportunity will the House have of criticising the conduct of these officials?

* MR. SPEAKER

Order, Order! That does not arise on this Question.
