To ask the Secretary to the Treasury whether he can state the average annual amount of the Civil Service Commission Vote for the past ten years, and the annual average amount of fees received by the Civil Service Commissioners from I all candidates who presented themselves at Civil Service examinations and from those who presented themselves in Ireland, and the annual average amount of this Vote expended in Ireland.

(Answered by Mr. Victor Cavendish.) The average annual amount of the Civil Service Commission Vote for the past ten years is £42,025, and the annual average amount of fees received by the Civil Service Commissioners during the same time from all candidates is £16,595, of which £1,566 was from candidates who presented themselves in Ireland. The amount expended in Ireland cannot be separately stated.
