HC Deb 19 February 1904 vol 130 cc449-50
CAPTAIN ELLICE

To ask the Secretary of State for War whether he will explain why only twenty of the married men of the 3rd Battalion King's Royal Rifles, who are now under orders to proceed to Bermuda, are to be allowed to take their wives and families there; and whether he is aware that these men have been home from South Africa less than a year, having been separated from their families for three and a-half years.

(Answered by Mr. Secretary Arnold-Forster.) Accommodation for twenty families only can be found in the fortress of Bermuda for this battalion. Additional married quarters, however, are being provided in Bermuda under the Military Works Loan.
