HC Deb 04 February 1904 vol 129 cc349-50
SIR J. STIRLING-MAXWELL (Glasgow College)

I beg to ask the Secretary for Scotland whether he will state what action he proposes to take during the present session on the Report of the Committee on the Board of Manufactures.

* MR. A. GRAHAM MURRAY

I am glad to be able to inform the hon. Member that the Treasury are able to give immediate effect to part of the recommendations in the Report, as will be seen in the Estimates. There are, however, questions of great complexity and magnitude raised by the Report to which I am giving my careful consideration, but on which it would be obviously premature to attempt to give any statement as to the course of action to be followed.

SIR J. STIRLING-MAXWELL

Has my right hon. friend anything to say with regard to the constitution of the Board itself?

* MR. A. GRAHAM MURRAY

No, Sir, and I think that is obviously a Question which I ought not to be asked to answer at present.
