HC Deb 12 August 1904 vol 140 cc409-10
MR. DELANY

To ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland whether he is aware that, in a recent award under the Labourers Acts, in Edenderry No. 1 Rural District, King's County, the arbitrator fixed compensation for a plot on Mr. Peter Ennis's farm, Killane, at £6, and increased his rent 9s. 9d. per annum, while he awarded £12, with a reduction of rent, to a neighbouring tenant on land of an inferior quality; and whether, in view of the fact that the arbitrator has, at the request of the district council, agreed to reconsider the award the Local Government Board will consent to his doing so.

(Answered by Mr. Wyndham.) The arbitrator's award in this case provided for a reduction of the occupier's rent by 12s. a year, and not an increase of 9s. 9d. as stated. I refer to my reply to the similar Question on the 27th July by the hon. Member for the Tullamore Division of King's County.†
