HC Deb 27 April 1904 vol 133 cc1300-1
DR. MACNAMARA

I beg to ask the Secretary to the Board of Education whether he is aware that the Education Committee of the London County Council reported to the Council on 13th April that, having regard to the shortness of the time now remaining before 1st May, it appears probable that the Board of Education will have no other course open than to appoint a different date for the corning into operation of the Act as regards the grouping of provided schools and the appointment of managers therefor; and whether he is aware that on 20th April the Committee reported that the Board of Education had postponed the date; and. if so, will he say whether this step was taken by the Board of Education at the request of the London County Council.

SIR WILLIAM ANSON

The Board have every reason to believe that the statements contained in the first part of the Question are correct, and as regards the last paragraph, the Board have no reason to doubt that the London County Council approves the step taken.
