HC Deb 14 May 1903 vol 122 c675
MR. H. C. RICHARDS (Finsbury, E)

To ask the Secretary of State for India whether he will state under what circumstances and for what reasons has Sir Bhashyam Aiyanger been continued in office after the assignment of a special land grant as pension, and after passing the age limit, upon which understanding he had been originally appointed.

(Answered by Secretary Lord George Hamilton.) Sir Bhashyam Aiyanger has been continued in office after the date on which he would otherwise have retired because the sudden illness of another Judge created an unexpected vacancy, and it was thought desirable to make as little change in the Court as possible. I explained, in reply to a Question by my hon. friend on the 24th ultimo, the circumstances under which a special grant of land revenue was made.†
