HC Deb 14 May 1903 vol 122 c686
MR. SCHWANN

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether, in view of the fact that a large proportion of the convicts in the Trinidad gaols are indentured coolies sentenced under special regulations for breach of service rules, he will lay upon the Table of the House those regulations, and state what arrangements exist for the protection of indentured coolies in Trinidad.

MR. AUSTEN CHAMBERLAIN (for Mr. J. CHAMBERLAIN)

The provisions made for the protection and control of indentured coolies in Trinidad are embodied in the Immigration Ordinance of 1899 as amended by Ordinances 2 and 33 of 1902. These Ordinances are in the Library of the House.
