HC Deb 09 March 1903 vol 119 c113
MR. M'FADDEN (Donegal, E.)

I beg to ask the President of the Board of Trade if arbitrators were appointed by the Board, as required by Section 6 of the Tramways (Ireland) Act, 1883, in connection with the Buncrana to Carndonagh Railway, County Donegal; can he say whether the arbitrators certified any sum payable on foot of the guarantee sanctioned by the Grand Jury of the county prior to the commencement of the construction of the railway; and, if so, what was the amount certified to be due and payable by the Donegal County Council on foot of the guarantee.

MR. GERALD BALFOUR

The answer to the first part of the hon. Member's Question is in the affirmative. I have no official information on the further points raised, as certificates issued by arbitrators under the provisions referred to are not furnished to the Board of Trade, whose functions in the matter do not extend beyond the appointment of the arbitrators.
