HC Deb 04 March 1903 vol 118 cc1355-6
MR. CLAUDE HAY

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether the return of foreigners in British prisons, which he is to present to the Royal Commission on Alien Immigration, will include those who have adopted English or Scottish names and can speak English fluently; and how he proposes to obtain information as to their names and antecedents.

* THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR THE HOME DEPARTMENT (Mr. AKERS DOUGLAS,) Kent, St. Augustine's

If the persons referred to in the first paragraph of the Question were born abroad, the answer is in the affirmative. The country of birth is included in the particulars which are recorded as regards all prisoners.

MR. CLAUDE HAY

I beg to ask whether the police officers who are to give evidence before the Royal Commission on Alien Immigration are required to attend at the Home Office to rehearse their evidence before giving it to the Royal Commission.

MR. AKERS DOUGLAS

Not that I am aware.
