To ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland if he can state the total cost of the registration of births, deaths, and marriages in Ireland, and the relative proportion of such cost paid out of the rates levied for relief of the poor and from Imperial sources.

(Answered by Mr. Wyndham.) The amount paid out of voted moneys on this service during the year ended 31st March, 1902, was £13,341. The amount paid out of local rates in the same period, by way of fees to registrars of births, deaths, and marriages, was £9,303.
