HC Deb 23 July 1903 vol 126 cc72-3
SIR HENRY FOWLER (Wolverhampton, E.)

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for India whether the proposal to charge the Indian Revenues with a proportion of the cost of the troops to be kept in South Africa has been approved of by him in Council; and whether the proposal, with such approval, has been forwarded to the Government of India.

LORD GEORGE HAMILTON

As I stated in reply to a Question put to me yesterday, this proposal has been considered by me in Council and has been referred to the Government of India for an expression of their opinion. Until that opinion has been received, no final decision will be arrived at by Secretary of State in Council.
