MR. BRYNMOR JONESI beg to ask the Under Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he is aware that inconvenience, delay, and undue expense are caused in regard to the administration of justice in Egypt by the existence of divers jurisdictions; and whether any steps are being taken to simplify and unify the judicial system of Egypt; and, if not, will he state whether he will take any action in that direction.
§ LORD CRANBORNEThe system of mixed tribunals in Egypt is an International 577 arrangement, and the consent of the Powers would be necessary before any change could be introduced. His Majesty's Government are not prepared at this moment to take any initiative in the direction indicated.
