SWIFT MACNEILL (Donegal, S.)I beg to ask the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he is aware 401 that shortly before his visit to Johannesburg the editorial staff of the Johannesburg Leader were dismissed summarily at the request of Lord Milner for attacking his administration in the Transvaal; and, if so, will he state why did the High Commissioner of South Africa interfere with the editorial management of a Johannesburg newspaper. This, I may say, is not a "put up" question.
