HC Deb 10 July 1903 vol 125 cc1133-4
MR. BLACK (Banffshire)

To ask the President of the Board of Trade whether, in cases where Scotch fishermen supply sanitary accommodation in their boats, deductions from the test rule measurement will be allowed in respect of crew space.

(Answered by Mr. Gerald Balfour.) If the registered tonnage of a vessel is arrived at under the tonnage regulations of The Merchant Shipping Act, 1894, and the sanitary accommodation is in accordance with the Sixth Schedule to that Act, the usual deduction from crew space will be allowed, but not if the tonnage of the vessel is arrived at by what is known as the test rule.
