HC Deb 09 July 1903 vol 125 c141
CAPTAIN DONELAN (Cork Co., E.)

To ask the Postmaster-General whether he will favourably consider the claim of auxiliary postmen to an increase of wages and to retiring allowance when unfit for further duties owing to old age or ill-health.

(Answered by Mr. Austen Chamberlain.) The pay of auxiliary postmen is fixed according to the wages current in the district, and I am not prepared to alter this practice. Auxiliary postmen are employed for a portion of their time only, and are consequently not eligible for pension or gratuity under the Superannuation Acts.
