MR. CAINE (Cornwall, Camborne)

To ask the Secretary of State for India what reply has been received from the Government of India to the memorial signed by the Right Honourable Lord Hobhouse and others, praying for the separation of judicial and executive duties in India, presented through the India Office in August, 1899, and forwarded to the Government of India for consideration; upon which, as stated by him on 13th March last,§ the Government of India had been consulting the local Governments.
