HC Deb 26 February 1903 vol 118 c913
COLONEL DENNY (Kilmarnock Burghs)

To ask the Secretary of State for India, in view of his reply on 30th October, 1902,: in answer to a Question to the effect that deliveries of locomotives ordered from German contractors by the East Indian Railway Company were in arrear, will he now state what is the present condition of affairs; and whether the policy of giving this order to German contractors was submitted to, and sanctioned by, him before being put into effect.

(Answered by Secretary Lord George Hamilton.) As regards the present condition of affairs, I am unable to give the information for which the hon. Member asks. The policy of the Board, so long as they keep within their agreement, is not a matter with which the Secretary of State can legitimately interfere.
