HC Deb 03 August 1903 vol 126 c1285
MR. WEIR

I beg to ask the Lord Advocate whether, seeing that the proprietor of the Island of Lewis has not yet come to terms with the applicants for fens for fishermen's dwellings near Stornoway, he will state what steps the Congested Districts Board propose to take in the matter.

THE SOLICITOR GENERAL FOR SCOTLAND (Mr. SCOTT DICKSON, Glasgow, Bridgton)

The Congested Districts Board's last information was that fees to be taken up by each applicant had not yet been arranged but were not expected to present much difficulty of adjustment. The matter is primarily one between the superior and the feuars: but the Board will make further inquiry as to the reason for delay.

MR. WEIR

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that the same state of things has been going on for the past twelve years?

MR. SCOTT DICKSON

No, Sir.
