HC Deb 03 August 1903 vol 126 c1285
MR. LEVY (Leicestershire, Loughborough)

I beg to ask the President of the Board of Trade whether his attention has been directed to the statement in the Consular Report on the Trade of the United States that the Hinted States attribute the decrease in their shoe trade to the fact that British manufacturers are able to obtain American machinery from the linked States cheaper than the Americans themselves can buy it on the spot; and, if so, will this fact be brought to the attention of those holding the inquiry into the fiscal system of this country.

THE PBESIDENT OF THE BOARD OF TRADE (Mr. GERALD BALFOUR, Leeds, Central)

I have seen the statement in question. Points of tins nature will of course be borne in mind.
