HC Deb 03 August 1903 vol 126 cc1288-9
MR. NANNETTI (Dublin, College Green)

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland whether his attention has been called to the fact that the Housing Bill of the President of the Local Government Board, about to be introduced as a Government measure, does not extend to Ireland; and whether it is the intention of the Government to also introduce a measure dealing with the question of the housing of the working classes in Ireland.

MR. WYNDHAM

The reply to the first part of the Question is in the affirmative. As already stated, it is my intention during the autumn to consider the whole question of the housing of the labouring classes in Ireland.

MR. NANNETTI

When the right hon. Gentleman refers to the housing of the labouring classes does he mean the working classes generally?

MR. WYNDHAM

The questions are somewhat germane. We had better take a view of the whole field.

MR. SHEEHAN

Will that include the housing of the working classes in cities and towns?

MR. WYNDHAM

I cannot give any pledges. I have said the whole subject will be considered, but I cannot go into details.
