HC Deb 03 August 1903 vol 126 cc1273-4
MR. CATHCART WASON (Orkney, Shetland)

To ask the Lord Advocate if, in view of the facts that have been laid before the Congested Districts Board, an independent officer will be sent to report to the Board on the Rackwick Road, Walls, Orkney, and the necessity or otherwise for its immediate construction.

(Answered by Mr. A. Graham Murray.) The Secretary for Scotland is not of opinion that any special inquiry is necessary in regard to the proposed Rackwick Road. The Congested Districts Board will consider the respective importance of this and other roads submitted by the County Council as soon as the Board are satisfied that the roads towards which grants have already been authorised are approaching completion, and an inquiry will be sent to the County Council asking for a report as to the exact state of progress of the several roads for which grants have been authorised.
