To ask the President of the Local Government Board whether he can state the number of children now boarded out in England and Wales, distinguishing between those boarded out within and those without the Union.

(Answered by Mr. Walter Long.) The number of children boarded out in England and Wales on the 1st January last was 8,250. Of these 6,394 were boarded within the Union and 1,856 beyond the Union.
