HC Deb 27 October 1902 vol 113 cc797-8
MR. GEORGE PALMER (Reading)

To ask the Postmaster General whether he is aware that certain learners at the Beading Post Office have been punished by the infliction of extra duty for incorrectly addressing envelopes; and will he state if the course followed on this occasion by the authorities has his approval.

(Answered by Mr. Austen Chamberlain.) I am aware that certain learners at the Beading Post Office have been punished, as stated, for careless performance of their duties, leading to serious delay in the delivery of telegrams, and to great inconvenience to the public. I see no reason to interfere in the matter.
