HC Deb 27 October 1902 vol 113 c798
MR. O'DOWD (Sligo, S.)

To ask the Postmaster General whether he is aware that, owing to the present postal arrangements, letters delivered in the Kilfree, County Sligo, postal district cannot be replied to the same day, although the post leaves Gurteen, three miles distant, at 5.20 p.m. daily; and whether arrangements can be made by which the rural letter carrier can take the mails in time to meet the evening post leaving Gurteen.

(Answered by Mr. Austen Chamberlain.) As I explained, in answer to a similar Question of the hon. Member's in February last, no improvement in the postal service from Kilfree can be effected without additional expense, which, owing to the comparatively high cost of the present service, I should not be justified in incurring.
