To ask the Secretary of State for India, in view of the statement contained in his Budget speech last year to the effect that the yield of food crops per acre in India had increased from 730 lbs. in 1880 to 840 lbs. in 1900, will ho give the statistics on this point for each province of India.

(Answered by Secretary Lord George Hamilton.) The statement made in my Budget speech last year repeated certain estimates of produce prepared in India from data collected by the Famine Commission of 1898. The detailed figures, as I have received them from India, are as follow:——
