HC Deb 25 November 1902 vol 115 cc381-2
MR. LAMBERT

I beg to ask the Under Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs if any date has been fixed for the evacuation of Shanghai by the troops of foreign nationalities; if so, when such; evacuation is to be accomplished.

THE UNDER SECRETARY OF STATE FOR FOREIGN AFFAIRS (Lord CRANBORNE,) Rochester

As the result of communications which have recently passed between the Powers concerned, the International troops will be withdrawn from Shanghai at as early a date and as nearly simultaneously as possible; the precise dates of their departure must depend upon the dates at which sea transport can be procured for the different contingents.
