I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland whether he can state the nature of the instructions sent to the Royal Irish Constabulary to enforce the Marine Store Dealers Act in provincial towns in Ireland; and the number of successful prosecutions by the constabulary under this Act during the last twelve months.

The constabulary are instructed to enforce the provisions of the Acts which apply to marine store dealers and dealers in old metals. The provisions of these Acts have been communicated to the police. A return of prosecutions undertaken during the past year has been called for, and when received will be sent to the hon. Member.
