HC Deb 10 November 1902 vol 114 c459
SIR MANCHERJEE BHOWNAG GREE (Bethnal Green, N.E.)

On behalf of the hon. Member for Hythe, I beg to ask the Secretary of State for India whether his attention has been directed to the effect upon Indian commercial interests in China of the continuance in the Philippine Islands of a silver standard by the action of the Congress of the United States of America in striking out the gold standard clauses of the Philippines Civil Government Bill; and will he state what steps he proposes to take in the matter.

LORD GEORGE HAMILTON

My attention had not been previously directed to the subject. If the hon. Member is able to inform me of any special circumstances of the case affecting India, I shall be glad to consider them.
