§ MR. PRIESTLEY (Grantham)I beg to ask the First Lord of the Treasury if His Majesty's Government will consider 636 the appointment of a Royal Commission for England and Wales, similar to the one recently appointed for Scotland, to inquire into the question of the physical training of children in all public elementary schools.
§ MR. A. J. BALFOURI have not yet had any opportunity of consulting the authorities of the English Education Department, but, as at present advised, it seems to me it would be wise, in the first place, to await the results of the Commission now inquiring into this very subject in Scotland—an inquiry which, if not absolutely conclusive as regards England, must certainly throw a great deal of light on the English question—and, in the second place, to await the results of the discussion on the Education Bill now before the House.
