§ MR. WEIRI beg to ask the Secretary of State for War, in view of the fact that the lighthouse at Singapore is constructed on ground wholly or partly owned by the War Office, and that the commercial community at Singapore as well as the masters of ships visiting the port require an improved lighthouse, will the War Office give its favourable consideration to any application which may be made by the responsible authority for such further land as may be required for the erection of a more suitable lighthouse.
LORD STANLEYAuthority for handing over the site was given in April, 1901, and a Report was received from the officer commanding the troops, dated 26th February last, that the lighthouse was in course of erection.
