§ MR. MANSFIELD (Lincolnshire. Spalding)On behalf of the hon. Member for Leicester (Mr. Broadhurst), I beg to ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, in view of the fact that it is within the power of the county authorities to regulate the attendance of jurymen at Quarter Sessions and Assizes without further legislation, and that in some counties such arrangements are now being made, whether he will issue a circular making clear to county authorities their powers in this respect.
§ * MR. RITCHIEI believe that the local authorities do, in some cases, make the arrangement to which the hon. Member refers. The matter is, however, one of considerable difficulty, and I do not think any circular from the Home Office would be likely to assist them in so doing.
