HC Deb 13 March 1902 vol 104 c1288
MR. J. P. FAERELL (Longford, N.)

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland whether he is aware that two half-year's accounts of Longford County Council remain now unaudited, and a third half-year closes on 31st March; whether the Local Government Board were applied to to send down an auditor, and stated it was impossible to do so for some time; whether arrangements could be made to have the accounts audited by the late auditor, who would be best able, from a long knowledge of the county, to deal with the large amount of work now to be done; and, in any case, can he state when the audit can be arranged for.

MR. WYNDHAM

The auditor lately in charge of this district has retired from the service, and the duty cannot, consequently, be assigned to him. But the Board has made other exceptional arrangements to have the accounts audited at the earliest possible date.

MR. J. P. FARRELL

Can the right hon. Gentleman give any idea when that "earliest possible date" will be?

MR. WYNDHAM

No, Sir.
