WILSON (Yorkshire, W.R., Holmfirth)I beg to ask the Secretary of State for War whether he gave authority for the arrest and detention of Miss Hobhouse on board the "Arundel Castle," on Sunday, the 27th October last; and, if not, when he first became aware of her arrest and detention; was it by his orders that she was detained on that vessel until the following Wednesday, and then forcibly deported to the "Roslin Castle," and carried a prisoner to England on that steamer. If these steps were not taken by his orders, when did he first become aware of them; and did he then signify his assent.
