HC Deb 04 March 1902 vol 104 c348
MR. FIELD (Dublin, St. Patrick)

I beg to ask the Financial Secretary to the War Office whether, in view of the numbers of cattle and sheep reported as having been captured by the troops in South Africa, the authorities will consider the advisability of modifying the Bergl contract for frozen meat, so as to enable the utilisation of the captured herds as a supply of fresh meat.

LORD STANLEY

As I have already explained to the House, the captured cattle are retained and will be issued as required. Provision is made for this in No. 8 of the Conditions of the Contract.
