HC Deb 23 June 1902 vol 109 cc1369-70
MR. BRYCE (Aberdeen, N.)

To ask the Secretary of State for War whether he can now state when the application of martial law and the existing Press censorship will cease in Cape Colony and in Natal.

(Answer.) The stringency of martial law regulations is being relaxed, but I am not prepared to give any definite date for their complete abolition, which will, however, be hastened as far as is practicable. As regards censorship, will the right hon. Member kindly refer to the reply given to my right hon. friend to the Question put by the hon. Member for East Mayo. [First of the Questions asked in the House this day.]—(War Office.)
