To ask the Secretary of State for the Colonies if he will state whether the provisions contained in Sections 73 to 80 of the Public Health Ordinance, No. 13, of 1901, relative to overcrowding in the city of Hong Kong, are enforced; and, if so, will he say how many persons have been deputed by the Hong Kong Government to enforce this Public Health Ordinance.

(Answer.) The answer to the first part of the Question is in the affirmative. In answer to the second part, I can only say that the total number of the sanitary Staff of the colony is about 140.—(Colonial Office.)
