§ MR. BANBURY (Camberwell, Peckham)To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he is aware that the police refused to allow a horse that had been seriously injured in Piccadilly to be destroyed by anyone but a licensed knacker, though a veterinary surgeon had given the requisite certificate; and whether he will take steps to make the police acquainted with the provisions of The Injured Animals Act, 1804, which authorises a constable in such a case to destroy the horse himself or cause it to be destroyed: and whether he will instruct the police to carry out all the provisions of that Act.
(Amwer.) I am in communication with the Commissioner of Police respecting this Question and hope to be able to give a further reply at a later date.—(Home Office.)
