HC Deb 12 June 1902 vol 109 c497
MR. BANBURY (Camberwell, Peckham)

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he is aware that the police refused to allow a horse that had been seriously injured in Piccadilly to be destroyed by anyone but a licensed knacker, though a veterinary surgeon had given the requisite certificate; and whether he will take steps to make the police acquainted with the provisions of The Injured Animals Act, 1804, which authorises a constable in such a case to destroy the horse himself or cause it to be destroyed: and whether he will instruct the police to carry out all the provisions of that Act.

(Amwer.) I am in communication with the Commissioner of Police respecting this Question and hope to be able to give a further reply at a later date.—(Home Office.)
