HC Deb 12 June 1902 vol 109 c497
MR. BOULNOIS (Marylebone, E.)

To ask Mr. Attorney General whether he will explain why the Governors of the Bank of England and other bodies refuse to recognise and act on the office copy of a power of attorney, duly attested, stamped, and issued by the High Court of Judicature; and whether he will take steps, by legislation or otherwise, to put a stop to this practice.

(Answer.) The production of the original power of attorney is necessary to guard against the danger of forgery. I do not think that it would be for the public advantage that the present practice should be altered.—(Mr. Attorney General.)
